Install Ubuntu 7.04 on Parallels Desktop

There's a discuss about Ubuntu 7.04 Live CD won't start in Parallels Desktop.
At http://forums.parallels.com/thread10308.html

The simple workaround works for me.
Create a Guest OS with type Solaris, and change it to Linux after installation.

Another issue I have with Ubuntu 7.04 and PD is it can't shutdown gracefully.
I'm not a great Ubuntu fun now, I can live with it.

Maybe I should try VMWare Fusion. Hmm...

Hey man,

Thanks for this, it really helped me out. I was having trouble installing Kubuntu 7.04 on Parallels and really beginning to worry that I had just wasted my time downloading the live CD image to find out that I should have gotten the Alternative install disc. However, I tried your idea of setting up the Guest OS type as Solaris and it booted up with no problems whatsoever, really appreciated!

Good, it works, but I have started ubuntu as
live vga=771
otherwise it showed me a blank screen (I'm using Parallels Desktop Build 3188 with Ubuntu 7.04)
